Juno Award-winning rockers Monster Truck, return to Barrie with a now sold-out show at Sound Empire, downtown Barrie on Friday, March 7th.
Hailing from Hamilton, ON, Monster Truck has been hitting radio waves with their rock n’ roll, described as aggressive, and volcanic, yet reminiscent of classic rock bands from the ’70s. What started as a fun, and albeit ‘selfish’ musical side-project, quickly gained momentum and took on a life of its own.
The release of their debut EP (self-titled), and the “Brown EP” have kept Monster Truck on the road for quite some time. Songs like “Seven Seas Blues” and “Righteous Smoke” earned the band opening slots with acts like The Sheepdogs, Alice In Chains, Slash, and Deep Purple.
What has ensued is their first full LP entitled “Furiousity”. Singles like “Sweet Mountain River”, and “The Lion” showcase exactly what the band is aiming for, the ability to keep a grasp on the classic rock roots that enabled them, while at the same time staying contemporary and true to their vast influences.
On April 21, 2013, Monster Truck walked away with the Juno Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. A few days later, they played to a Sold Out Crowd at the Mansion Nightclub, downtown Barrie. This time they’ve sold out Barrie’s own 1,200 capacity entertainment complex, Sound Empire.
