The 1st annual Feast Fest is bringing an array of food, beverages, music, and entertainment programming this weekend to Bell Park, 900 Paris St, Sudbury. The three-day event offers free admission for all ages with free parking and free evening concerts taking place with Friday night headliner Jojo Mason and Saturday night headliners Honeymoon Suite. Evening concerts are 19+ after 8 pm, and offer reserved seating as an available upgrade. Grace Hartman Amphitheatre has a limited capacity, free entry will be granted on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Festival activity programming includes Porketta Bingo (Saturday & Sunday 3-6 pm), Giant Jenga, “life-size” Virgin Beer Pong. Festival Gates are open this Friday and Saturday 11 am-midnight and Sunday 11 am-8 pm.
All food options can be found on the festival website and social media accounts. The Sudbury festival weekend is expected to draw between 15,000 – 20,000 people. Feast Fest will also visit Midland and London (ON) this summer, with plans to expand to other Ontario markets in 2018.
“It seems there’s a market today for smaller, more reasonably priced or free festivals. Several of the large multi-day, costly festivals in North America have either been discontinued this year or have scaled-down considerably,” comments Feast Fest partner, Lisa Groves. “We decided to create a festival model that fits nicely into this trend that we can take to multiple cities this year (currently Sudbury, Midland, London, ON). We are experiencing great traction for our ‘first-year event’ and have already been approached by other municipalities for next year. I have been involved in a successful event in Barrie, ON that started 46 years ago with 20 vendors. Today that same event has over 2,000 vendors. It takes time to grow an annual sustainable festival. We are in it for the long haul.” Lisa’s family recently sold Burls Creek in Oro, which now hosts Boots & Hearts, Wayhome, The Big Feastival, and the Barrie Automotive Flea Market.
