The 1st annual Sudbury Poutine Fest took place August 25-27, 2018, attracting over 21,000 people to downtown Sudbury, Ontario.
The French Canadian classic dish was a huge hit this weekend as event organizers were hosts to massive waves of attendees all weekend. The event featured eight different food vendors, with most serving an assortment of delicious poutine options.
“As a Sudbury local, I’m making sure the company will be focusing on local talent, vendors, and suppliers.” comments local event organizer Rhaili Champagne. “We plan to include even more poutine vendors next year. This year we had many out-of-town food vendors but used locally purchased potatoes and ingredients and most infrastructure supplies were also provided locally.”
Local food vendor ‘Bobbo’s BBQ’ won Favourite Poutine at this year’s inaugural event, as voted by attendees. The event also featured a kids zone, multiple exhibitors, and live entertainment including performances by Bobby Wills, Hells Bells, That Party Band, and many others.
“We’re extremely pleased with the support from the local community” comments Festival Partner Lisa Groves. “It has certainly provided a great foundation for an annual event in the Sudbury area.”
